please cancel all the shows you have planned at four white walls... and
please inform the bands as well.

the landlords are tired of the music and said we are running a night club
not a gallery and that is not what she wanted the spaced used for

when i've stopped crying i'll write more

i'm so sorry... please don't hate me

i know there was a show planned for tomorrow night and i'm sorry if this
causes any problems

have a happy holiday...
there will be two more openings as least so stop by on first friday if you

so right then i send an e-mail to the trunkspace, the phix and the paperheart gallery the e-mail read

me and emily at thegoodshows.com have had 2 of our shows cancelled at
the last minute and i see that your galleries have dates open on those
dates. so i am hoping that at least one of you will help us out.

1.DECEMBER 23RD [TOMORROW!]
BLACK FEET: w/james drive, aurora borealis, fathers day, swallowing
stones, charles rivers and brodie hubbard

2. DECEMBER 30TH
RAINBOW BLANKET: w/ex jesus, oscillating innards, my little red toe
and the galactic federation of love

both of them should be an alright turnout and both of them will be AMAZING.

please please get back to me as soon as possible. you can call me

i will be online all day trying to fix these shows.

i waited a couple minutes but then i got so eager that i called all the venues on the telephone.

-scott at the paper heart responded first and said "i am already doing a show tomorrow but i can definitly do your show on the 30th"
-JRC at the trunkspace responded second and said "i got good news and bad news. the bad news is we cant be here tomorrow night so we cant do your show on the 23rd. the good news is we want to do your show on the 30th"
-i never got ahold of lee at the phix.

Subject: WAIT.... don't cancel everything!
okay....
new development in the four white walls drama....

i told my landlady today that if we couldn't do music at all that we
couldn't keep the space that we would not be returning in january and that
we would have the place cleaned up and be out of there come january
first....

so she called me back and wanted to know why we had to do the music thing
and i told her that the music thing is contributing to our rent. I don't
have the money to pay for the space unless I make some money...

so then gary got involved and said that we didn't make any money this
month doing bands.... that either no one showed up or no one paid to get
in....

so then he was on our landlady's side.... and i cried even more...

so the landlady said she could tolerate music once a week....
and gary said we can do a few more shows as long as we make some money...

SO I HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE....

I WILL EMAIL YOU again later on today and tell you which shows I can do
and which shows I can't do....

so hold off on cancelling shows for the moment....
i'm going to make it all work out... or i'm breaking up with gary and
moving back to nyc... opening the gallery was the only reason i moved
back here... so I'm going to try really really really hard to make this
work....

give me a few more hours... okay?

i had been fasting for a lot of reasons on the 22nd and was going to break my fast at 7:30pm that night. so before i left to eat chinese food to break my fast i called sheila about a million times because she never e-mailed or called me back. and i also spammed all of jills [workshirt wonder] e-mail accounts....etc with this message

i need your phone number and the market street cafe's phone number
because i have a show tomorrow.... eerrr today [practically] and no
venue. and i think they might be down with it since so many cool bands
are playing

then i went to dinner to break my fast with andrew and tristen. and i came home and sent sheila this message

ok so the 30th show is fine. both the paper heart and the trunkspace
can/want to do it. but my show tonight is still up in the air and i
really dont want to cancel it because i want to see all the bands
playing and i really think the turnout will be pretty great.

the only place i havent gotten ahold of yet is the market street cafe'
but the thing that sucks about that is
1. it wouldnt start till 8:30pm and
2. i would have to supply a PA which i dont have and i hate having the
bands bring it.

i have tryed calling you a bunch today but never got an
answer. so please please please respond to this e-mail as soon as
possible or call me as soon as possible and let me know if this show
can happen at four white walls.

maybe your landlord doesnt need to know about it. i mean all the bands
[except fathers day. but if thats a problem i can take us off the
bill.] are mellow [for the most part] and there wont be
anything loud or extreme happening. it wouldnt be any differant from a
first friday! except you would charge money at the door.

then jill was awesome and got back to me like lickety split. and said the show could most likely happen at the market street cafe'. so i calmed my nerves a bit and went to bed

when i awoke this morning i got a call from sheila. she said she convinced the landlord to let her do shows at her space but only on weekends. i explained to her/begged her how important this show is to me and how it wouldnt disturbe anyone....etc and she said "alright maybe, there is probably a good chance it will work out. i will call you back once i get off work and after i talk to my landlord in an hour or so"

then i got a call from brodie just asking what was up with the show and i told him we would hear back in an hour.

an hour came and went and i could tell he aswell as i were a little tired of waiting.

i got ahold of jill. she said she would have an answer regarding the market street cafe by 2pm

i got ahold of lee and he said "NO WAY RYAN I AM NOT GOING TO DO YOUR SHOW! I AM NOT DOING ANYMORE SHOWS UNTIL THE END OF THIS MONTH BECAUSE OF MY INJURY!"

sheila called me and said she still hadnt gotten ahold of the landlord but would keep trying and would call me back as soon as she hears anything.

jill says the market street cafe can do it. and i scream for joy. i felt like this would turn out to be a christmas miracle.

bryant from workshirt wonder said he would be able to supply a PA! hooray!

i call brodie right away and he says he cant do the show anymore.

i got a call from stephan from black feet and he says black feet cant do the show anymore.

i spam the whole internet and tell everyone to go to the show! it has moved to the market street cafe! HOORAY THE DAY IS SAVED! i feel kinda bad cause i wanted to see both brodie and black feet really bad but i am still looking on the bright side. HOORAY THE SHOW WILL HAPPEN! I WILL FINALLY BE ABLE TO SEE AURORA BOREALIS AND JAMES DRIVE AGAIN AND I GET TO PLAY IN MY SUPER AWESOME BAND FATHERS DAY AND I GET TO SEE MEGAN AGAIN AND I AM SO HAPPY I FINALLY GET TO SEE CHARLES RIVER!

since all the stress had been lifted off of me i get hit with tiredness and decide i need a nap.

10-15 minutes into my nap i get a call from the manager at the market street cafe'

he says "i am sorry i made a huge mistake. i accidently told you i could do the show when i already had plans for this eveneing with my family"

i said "you gotta be kidding me?! this show has to happen!"

then there was a really awkeward silence. and he said "well andrew can probably work tonight i just gotta get ahold of him and make sure he can do it. cause he is the only other person that can close."

so he calls andrew. no answer. i guess cause i waited 15 minutes and never got a call back. so i called him up again and said "whats andrews phone number let me call him myself."

so i call andrew. no answer. i kept calling and calling and calling and calling and no answer. mean while i am getting calls from friends that are planning on going to the show but dont know for sure whats up and i keep telling them "its at the market street cafe'. it starts at 8:30"

its 5:30. i am freaking out. i keep getting phone calls people are getting ancy i guess "WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE SHOW I NEED TO KNOW!"

i finally get a call back from andrew. all he says is "sorry i had my phone off all day. and i just bought some tickets to see the phoenix suns tonight and i cant get to work. i already have plans. if i would have gotten your message earlier and had my phone on i probably could have done it. but now i am just too busy"

then i start to cry.

i calm myself down enough to call liam [from james drive] and tell him the show is cancelled. and then i started writing this.
