Tonight was a good night. i havent danced like that since july 2006. thank you ska, for saving me once again. I have made an observation on live performance that i would like to share... in order to have a good performance or one that stands out you must include one or more of the following. 1. You must get involved with the audience. This includes crowd participation, going into the crowd and touching people or getting them involved somehow in your performance.
EXAMPLE: QUINTRON "swamp buggy badass" The "Let's Find Girlfriends" Tour was a success i feel. it was little weird for a bunch of reasons. but the main one i will focus on is, i did a lot of singing and songing and not enough performing. or rather more songs than performance than i usually do or would like to do or am comfortable with. but still the shows were fun.
03/01/09 @The Smell (Los Angeles, CA) w/Guitarded, Moment Trigger, Uggamugga and Creekbird PERFORMANCE INCLUDED: kissing men. monologue about feeling unwanted. SONGS INCLUDED: -ode to the old and hopeless -dress for success -tell yourself (gadjits cover) -plenty more (squirrel nut zipper cover) -i think you're beautiful -for andrew... -things everyone needs to hear -a serious song -dick -merry christmas justin cooper -its alright my set in LA was about 30 minutes long. 8 people came to see me which was nice and those folks were all smiles but the rest crowd was very weird and stand-offish. but i felt i won them over by the time i sang "for andrew..." and by the end most of the crowd was participating in my sing along and enjoying themselves. plus i sold a bunch of merchandise! SUCCESS! -------------------------------- 03/02/09 @The Lodge (Tucson, AZ) w/Andrew Jackson Jihad, Uggamugga, Great Job, Porches, Renato Parada and Serows PERFORMANCE INCLUDED: calling my dad to wish him a happy birthday. starting a dance party SONGS INCLUDED: -happy birthday stuart -dress for success -tell yourself (gadjits cover) -plenty more (squirrel nut zippers cover) -i think you're beautiful -dick -bromance (treasure mammal cover) -merry christmas justin cooper -it's alright my set in Tucson was about 20-25 minutes long (could have been shorter but there was a lot of talking and i am a snob when it comes to people not watching me). no one there has seen me perform before or knew what to expect or really cared that i was performing (aside from phoenix crew) but the crowd was so intense and fun either way and it seemed like everyone who watched me enjoyed themselves (outside of when i sang the song "merry christmas justin cooper" then there was a dead silence and a couple people just staring me down as if to say "that wasn't cool dude". but i hope i redeemed myself when i got everyone involved in a dance party/sing along at the end) -------------------------------------- 03/03/09 @The Trunkspace (Phoenix, AZ) w/Uggamugga, Michelle Blades and Magilicuddy PERFORMANCE INCLUDED: monologue about happiness, friendship and finding love SONGS INCLUDED: -ode to the old and hopeless -tell yourself (gadjits cover) -plenty more (squirrel nut zippers cover) -i think you're beautiful -for andrew... -things everyone needs to hear -dick -it's alright my set in Phoenix was just under 20 minutes long. i went from 9:40ish to 10pm on the dot. only 9 people outside of the 4 people performing showed up, so we had a nice intimate show with everyone on the stage with tristan and i. it was very laid back and unenthusiastic but that is ok, because i saw smiles on everyone's face. and everyone participated for the songs. and although during the sing along at the end no one wanted to go crazy it was still a blast. i love friendship tours! HI MY NAME IS RYAN AND UGGAMUGGA "LETS FIND GIRLFRIENDS TOUR" THIS WEEKEND!
