well, the whole trip was very surreal and weird. pretty much everything that happened felt like a dream and made me say to myself or someone else "is this really happening?" or "did that really just happen" or "people aren't going to believe me if i told them about this"
on this road trip we listened to some pretty great albums. which made me incredibly thankful for the friends i have that have great taste in road trip jamz. i will list the ones i brought that we listened to:
-all girl summer fun band "self titled"
-james kochalka superstar "spread your evil wings and fly"
-they might be giants "self titled"
-old skull "get outta school"
-dead kennedys "fresh fruit for rotting vegetables"
-beat happening "black candy"
-they might be giants "Lincoln"
-the violent femmes "viva Wisconsin"
-the dead milkmen "metaphysical graffiti"
-treasure mammal "self titled cd-r"
-the squirrel nut zippers "the best of... as chronicled by shorty brown"
-ray reeves "the wait is over"
-randy newman "harps and angels"
-kids of widney high "lets get busy"
we also jammed out to jonathan richmand, the pogues, this terrific studio one ska/reggae compilation, a mix cd made by the members of jjcnv, the toadies, tom waits, kepi ghoulie, the vinegar sting and others... almost all of which was accompanied by the four of us (tristan + andrew jemsek, james and i) singing back up vocals the whole way through. it was one of the many things on the list that was just so good / weird that it felt like a dream.
