tonight's show was pretty magical. i got there late and missed deleted scenes. i heard they were great but i got a weird vibe from them.
BABY AVIATORS were awesome. way better than the last time i saw them. it is so great to see those boys doing something creative and productive and GOOD again. dave is also a really great lyricist and interesting to watch, which is almost surprising considering the style of music it is but not really considering dave gironda being a great human being.
BANGARANG was good too! jason kron did a swell job i think. i could tell he was nervous so it added a weird vibe to the performance but i think he will do better. and there song "network" is so good and catchy and has been stuck in my head throughout my dreams.
FATHERS DAY ripped! of course! we played two new songs. "hard workin man" which we opened with and was kinda weird and sloppy but i still dug it. and "never shave it off" which is a great dancey number which i feel we did an amazing job with tonight compared to our tucson show where we played it last. i think for the most part we confused most of the people there. i saw a bunch of new people and most of them had blank stares like "is this real?" which is one of my favorite things to make people say/think/feel.
MATH THE BAND was a party house. the book ended there set with andrew w.k. "its time to party" and were just mega high energy the rest of the set. dave and phil got shirtless and homo-erotic which is something i miss sometimes at shows. the phoenix art/music scene just isn't as homosexual as the old azska scene. and afterwords we talked about andrew w.k. forever. i think they have convinced me to call him sometime just to talk about life and such.
in the end it was magical. bummer if you missed it.
